“We have guests which
have been coming back
for 10 to 15 years, both
for private celebrations
and team building events.
One of our guests showed
me their family album
with photos covering the
last 10 years: more than
50% of them were taken
at celebrations on our
estate. It was amazing to
see that!”
the black grapes in our vineyard. Our offer
also includes two sparkling wines – white
sparkling wine Mušketir and pink sparkling
wine Rose Bella. Our total annual wine
production amounts to about 30 000 litres.
Every year, we celebrate Vincekovo (St.
Vincent’s Day), the beginning of the vineyard activities, and Martinje (St. Martin’s
Day), a special evening when must turns
into young wine. Our visitors enjoy these
festivities as well.
How many people can you accommodate for an overnight stay?
We can accommodate 40 people, which
means a good party is guaranteed. We also
cooperate really well with other facilities
providing accommodation in Ivanić-Grad,
such as Hotel Sport.
What type of guests visit you
the most?
When we analyse the number of overnight
stays and the type of guests, we can say
that approximately half of the guests are
foreigners and half are locals. However,
when talking about the visits to the estate
itself, local guests form the majority. We
have had an interesting cooperation arrangement with several agencies which
organised visits of dozens of groups a year:
At my father’s
initiative, we
managed to create
an educational trail
leading to the lake
so that individual
tourists can certainly
enjoy a nice walk.
Visitors can rent bikes,
and we also have seven
horses for beginner
riding lessons.
The ethnographic
collection which
includes more than
4000 antique items
from this region is
also interesting. There
are also the children’s
playground, domestic
animals and sports
courts.

one of them focused on the American tourists, one on the Canadian market, and one
on the British visitors.
Which factor do you think is the
most contributing to success in
rural tourism?
If we talk about hospitality, taking care of
the quality of service and food is an everyday task. We have to prove ourselves to our
guests every day, and that is not always easy.
Even if we make a mistake, we try to address
it by being polite and communicating with
our guests and we try to build long-term
relationships. Croatia is a small market, and
we really need to take care of our guests and
provide them with the best service possible
to make sure they come back.
Can you tell us what you have
planned next for the Kezele
estate?
We are planning to plant another vineyard
next year, expand the vine plantings, plant
škrlet – the škrlet clonal selection which is
the best planting material. Alongside the
holiday home, we plan to build a heated
swimming pool to extend our guests’ stays.
Our long-term plans include expanding the
winery and distillery, as well as enhancing
the range of tourist amenities.
