A RACE LINKING SPORTS, TRADITION, AND GEOLOGICAL HERITAGE
U
nder the brightly lit oil pumpjacks and to the
sound of drums, Ivanić-Grad hosted one of
the most unique races in the world, the Black Gold
Night Run, for the third time. This one-of-a-kind
night race links tradition, sports and natural wealth of
Moslavina, celebrating one of the “black golds” produced in this region – oil.
Drummers located in several spots alongside the
track provided a special beat which energised the
runners and spectators, which made the race even
more special. Also, DJs Nick Bane and Matyma
were there to make the event even more amazing,
while the night lights of the oil pumpjacks turned
the race into an unforgettable experience.
The event included the race, with 260 runners, as well
as a rich accompanying programme, offering fun activities for everyone, from the youngest participants to
the most experienced runners. What makes this race
so special is precisely the fact that it takes place at
night, with brightly lit pumpjacks guiding the runners
over the track.
This project was aimed at raising awareness
of the importance of physical activity,
healthy habits, and togetherness promoted
through sports. Alongside the physical
benefits, running has a positive effect on
mental health, as it reduces stress and
anxiety, and improves one’s mood.

Winners in the male and female category of the
5K and 10K races won valuable prizes, such as
gift cards for the nearby Kezele family farm, sauna
treatments at the Hotel Sport, and tickets for the
Naftalan pools. The Black Gold Night Run is more
than just a race – it’s a true festival of sports, togetherness, and tradition. The lights, the beat of the
drums, the joy on the runners’ and spectators’ faces,
and the unique nature of Moslavina made this third
race truly memorable. Ivanić-Grad has proven once
again that sports and natural wealth can come
together to create magic to enchant all generations.
