W
e are witnessing an ever-increasing rate of construction
of pool complexes with various purposes.
Thanks to funding provided by the European Union, a large number of cities started
investing into constructing pools so as to
ensure the best possible conditions for
sports, recreation and entertainment of
their citizens.
How can savings compromise
the quality of pool water and
equipment?
After construction and commissioning, operating costs make up for a significant portion
of total indirect costs of swimming pools.
Faced with a high consumption of sanitary
water, chemicals and energy products for
heating pool water, pool managers often
make decisions on savings which result in a
lower quality of the treated water and more
frequent malfunction of pool equipment
(non-continuous operation of water treatment
system, inadequate backwashing, etc.).

Certain investor demands lead to the
of special technological solutions dedicated
to achieving savings in waste water in line
with its further use for various purposes. In
cooperation with the Technol company from
Slovenia, a programme aimed at implementing the system for the treatment of pool waste
water resulting from the filter backwashing
and rinsing started. This system is based on
the ultrafiltration (UF) technology.
Ultrafiltration technology
Ultrafiltration has been used for years in the
treatment of potable and industrial water, and
the main characteristic is the fact that the
water passes through a membrane whose
pores measure 0.002 to 0.1 micrometres. This
technology enables the removal of suspended solids from the water, such as particles
which cause opacity, viruses, bacteria, and
larger molecules, while chlorine can pass
through the membrane freely.
Aquachem’s engineering team is dedicated to ensuring that, alongside high-quality
water treatment, all future projects also
achieve the highest possible energy savings, making them the standard in pool
water treatment solutions.

Installation
with no
construction
Investors are offered several financing modes, including a financing
model based on payment through
energy savings. Ultrafiltration-based
equipment requires no construction
work so it can be easily installed in
existing pool complexes.
This enables water savings of 80%, decreasing the consumption of chemicals and waste
heat. UF devices are used primarily in indoor
and heated pool complexes which are operational year-round. Investors get the chance
to decrease their expenses for sanitary
water, municipal waste water, and energy
bills for heating the pools. The ultrafiltration
system can usually be installed alongside
the equipment for the treatment of pool
water in pool engine rooms. Its operation is
automatic, controlled remotely, and can be
adapted to the size and number of individual
pools. The system uses a very small amount
of electricity, so the period of return on investment is not long.
