I would
specifically
like to mention
my young
colleagues in the
warehouse, who
are always ready
to help, do any
physical work,
stay longer or
come to work
a half an hour
early without
counting it
as overtime,
because we all
know our CEO
appreciates us
and rewards us
for any extra
work.
My name is Josip Bilandžić, I am 33 years
old, married, father to two little rascals. I am a
computer technician, and I currently manage
the warehouse at Aquachem. I have also managed to snag an unofficial, part-time position
of deputy CEO as I could see he needed a firm
right hand. So far, he’s only had a firm left hand
which he uses to get through 700 grams of
almonds a day.
What are your main tasks, and what
do you like most about your job?
My team and I are tasked with dispatching and
receiving goods. Loading and unloading, storing the goods. Maintaining the warehouse and
its surroundings, keeping everything clean and
tidy. The most important task of the warehouse
staff is making sure our fridges are full and that
the chickens lay enough eggs so that my guys
are sufficiently fuelled to withstand these difficult working conditions… I love my job. I have
found myself here, and I go to work happily
and with zero pressure. My favourite thing is
the fact that there are no helicopter bosses and
we can do our jobs in peace, with no stress
or hassle. Our CEO wants the job to be done
without any need for his intervention or for
lecturing us on how to do the job. He trusts us
to handle our activities as we should, and we
are a well-oiled machine.
Is there a project or achievement
at Aquachem that you are particularly proud of?
I am very proud to have climbed the ladder – I
started out as a warehouse employee and now
I’m a manager, and I did it in a relatively short
time. All of my effort, dedication and care for
the warehouse have paid off, and I’m grateful
that Dražen recognised my capabilities and
entrusted me with the position of a manager.
Another achievement I’m proud of is that my
deputy Dražen Škrivanek truly values my opinions, he never does anything without consulting with his superiors.
How would you describe the working environment at Aquachem?
I believe that the working environment at our
company greatly depends on whether it’s
peak season or an off-season period. Over
the years, we’ve noticed that during our peak
season everyone is stretched to their limit,
always in a hurry, there’s so much commotion
over our products, everything is urgent, no
one can get through all customer and supplier requests in a single day, and all this reflects on the warehouse as well. All products
need to be checked and dispatched on the
same day, so there are many unnecessary
calls over various information, and it takes
lots of wine, I mean mutual understanding,
to be able to handle everything in a reasonable manner. Once the peak season lets out
everything is great. Everyone resets back to
factory settings, everything is normal again,
and our smart watches are confused and
always telling us to move around more.
When it comes to the environment at the
warehouse, I don’t think anyone could measure up to our team, our organisation and our
atmosphere (except when Dražek gets 500
thousand euro on his account early in the
morning. That’s when we get out the warm
Zacapa and sip on it until lunchtime, then the
atmosphere is even better ). Whether it’s
a slow day or a rush, jokes are always flying
